Ingredients
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small white onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 serrano chilies (finely chopped, remove seeds for less heat)
  • 3 tbsp cilantro (finely chopped)
  • 1 lime juice (or to taste)
  • salt (to taste)
  • 1 medium tomato (finely chopped, optional)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced, optional)
Instructions
  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Using a fork, mash the avocados to your desired consistency. Some prefer a chunky texture, while others like it smoother.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion, serrano chilies, and cilantro to the mashed avocados. If using garlic and tomato, add them as well.
  3. Squeeze in the lime juice and add salt to taste. Lime juice not only adds flavor but also helps prevent the avocados from browning.
  4. Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a side dish to complement other Mexican dishes.
