Ingredients
    For the dough:
  • 120 ml water
  • 150 g honey
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 250 g flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 80 g melted lard (or butt fat)
  • 50 g margarine
  • 1 l vegetable oil
Instructions
  1. Beat the eggs in a bowl and beat with a mixer for 5 minutes.
  2. Then add salt and soda and beat again.
  3. Add flour and knead a medium-hard dough.
  4. Cover the dough with cling film and set aside for 30 minutes.
  5. Take the dough and roll it out to a thickness of 2 mm.
  6. Mix melted butter and margarine and spread it on only half of the rolled out dough.
  7. Fold the dough in half, that is, fold the ungreased half onto the buttered side.
  8. Cut the dough into 3 cm thick strips.
  9. Then cut them into 1.5 cm wide strips.
  10. Heat the oil in a pan.
  11. Add the dough little by little and fry, stirring with a spatula during frying so that the pieces curl up.
  12. Put the sugar and water in a bowl and boil over low heat for 30 minutes.
  13. When the mixture thickens slightly, add the honey and lemon juice and mix well.
  14. As soon as it starts to boil, remove from heat immediately.
  15. Put the chak-chak in a bowl, pour the mixture over it and mix well.
  16. Arrange them neatly on a plate.
